My Approach:
I’ve been a therapist for 19 years. What I love most about this work is no matter how long I’ve been doing it, I’m still learning. I’m still surprised. I’m still in awe of the insights gained and the changes that can happen.
I believe therapy is a true collaboration. You are the expert on your life. My job is to listen in order to accurately understand all the complexities, contradictions, and celebration-worthy attributes and aspirations that make you who you are.
Our job together is to create a space where all that you are and all that you may yet become is deeply allowed. It is from that shared space of acceptance that a new understanding of the multides you contain begins to emerge. That process continues to be both thrilling and beautiful to me. It’s the reason I love what I do.
Therapy is also hard work. Unearthing pain, trauma, and loss can be uncomfortable, disorienting, and even destabilizing -- especially at first. Things may indeed get worse before they get better. I want us to work together at a pace and depth that respects that reality. I will follow your lead. I will be direct and honest with you, and welcome the same in return.
It is an honor to be entrusted with the story of one’s life. Thank you for considering entrusting me with your life’s story. I can’t wait to witness the unfolding of chapters yet unwritten.
