What is DBT ?

DBT group skills training teaches self- acceptance and change skills to redirect unhealthy patterns of thinking and acting towards better alternatives which are optimal for emotional regulation, greater sense of calm, confidence and healthy relationships both towards oneself and others.

What are the four
DBT skill set modules?

Mindfulness teach you how to live in the present moment without judgment of yourself.
Distress tolerance teach you techniques that help you survive a crisis without making the crisis worst.
Emotion regulation skills teach you healthier ways of understanding and experiencing your emotions.
Interpersonal effectiveness skills teach you how to manage interpersonal conflicts, maintain healthy relationships and end destructive relationships.

* I am currently finishing my Masters thesis at Harvard Extension School, where my concentration is Psychology and my thesis explores Autistic Women and Masking. I have led several mental wellness support groups, focusing on a range of common struggles such as entering young adulthood, work-life balance, and going through divorce. I am a DBT-informed Clinician and love leading DBT Skills Groups. I also provide independent clinical services using a client-centered approach. My favorite thera techniques involve using cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and of course, dialectical behavior therapy. My long-term goals are to earn a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology, have my own private practice, and become a professor while continuing my research on Autistic Women.“
